New Year's Havoc in Hatyai City

What met us on New Year 2012? Heavy rain and flash floods in 12 Songkhla districts as well as other parts of the deep South. We, the residents of Hat Yai municipality were ordered to evacuate to higher grounds because flood is expected. I don't want to experience flood again! It's on year 2010 when my family first experienced flood (you can read HERE).  It's still fresh in my mind how that incident  sent me to flood of emotions - panic, feeling out of control, anxiety, uncertainty, and disorientation!

We don't have church gathering on that day. That day is chaotic! We moved all our belongings on the 2nd floor of our house. My brother's family stayed with us too (with their possessions) because their rented room was drowned with flood before. Imagine how we manage to squeeze everything in two rooms-  our dining area is already in our small bedroom . All vehicles in our area were taken out of the area immediately. The municipality had raised red signal flags, which signify an evacuation from Sunday until Tuesday. We monitored the rising of water every now and then via the website given to us by Hatyai Municipality in HERE. Based on the IP Camera 5 (just few meters away from us) only few inches more and the water will overflow towards us! Thanks be to God for hearing our prayers. The rain stopped on Tuesday (January 3) and it's been sunny since then. The water receded but ...we're not safe yet:( The municipality advised the residents not to take down belongings until January 10. The weather forecasters announced that torrential rain is expected on the 8th or 9th.

With God nothing is impossible. I asked Him to stop the rain and no more flood. He did! I continue believing on that!

Keep us in your prayers!
