Thanks to my friend, MgM, for lending to me the book “The Mom You’re Meant to be” by Cheri Fuller. Because of this I have more understanding about my role as a mother. To be a good mother, we don’t need a certain formula to follow or apply. Instead, it’s all about connecting with God’s heart and with our kid’s hearts. As we do, He will lead us and grow us into the moms we’re meant to be and the parents our children needs.
To better understand our kids, look for the silver lining. Be aware that often what looks like a negative trait in childhood can become a terrific strength in adulthood. For example, the very active kid who ran his mom ragged has great energy for tasks and challenges. Argumentative kids usually possess an analytical talent that can help them become successful scientist, doctor or engineer.
Here are 6 different kinds of Smart:
1. The Musical Child is always singing a song (usually, right on pitch) or moving to a beat. He easily remembers tone, rhythm, and melody.
This is very evident for our Hyzyd:
He really loves singing! In church during the Praise and Worship, he sings his heart out though he doesn’t know a single word..he..he…Mind you, he’s right on pitch!
2. The People Smart Child is a social butterfly, loves to be with a group playing and taking the lead, and has great communication skills.
Hyzyd is so like me. We prefer to be alone …enjoys to be alone….not really people smart, eh? During our English SemBreak class, while the other kids played, he played alone in his own comfort zone.
3. The Body Smart Child has extra energy and loves sports. He remembers songs with body movements the best.
4. The Spatially Smart Child can look at directions in a LEGO set and put the whole project together. He enjoys drawing, solving, puzzles and mazes and designing things.
5. The Math Smart Child is always sorting, classifying, sequencing objects and analyzing things.
6. The Verbally Smart Child loves word play, telling stories, and listening to books being read. He has an uncanny memory for words.
How Hyzyd loves to read!Last night after reading his fave book and praying he asked me ” Mommy, let’s read BIBLE”. It’s amazing to hear that from him. As a Christian mom, I want my kid to know and love Jesus and experience how much He loves them. It’s starts at an early age and by reading God’s Word in the Bible. Though I’m sooo sleepy, we managed to finish a chapter in Genesis. Hyzyd’s listening for the whole 5 minutes and after reading we slept with a smile on my face:)
Can you now determine what kind of Smart is your kid?

being spatially smart is very evident with my eldest son while my youngest is musically smart. I always get mad at my eldest for ruining things like ballpens, bags, ID holder etc. Now I realize that it's just his way of learning. thanks for enlightening me through this post
