Because we don’t have internet connection yet, I have ample of time to watch movies. One of the movies that I like is the movie 21. The basic premise of 21 is that anyone who’s able to count the card can take the house’s edge away in a game of blackjack. This movie was based on a true story. A team of intelligent students at MIT structure a team to make vast amounts of money at the blackjack table. They have everything down pat, from the counting to the signals to alert of suspicious casino workers (because if you can believe it, casinos don’t like to lose money in such high amounts.) The movie portrays the situation stylishly, perfectly blending in montages and effective music when necessary. Add in some Hollywood “embellishment” such as a particularly harsh head of security (Laurence Fishburne), and you have the making of a good movie on your hands.

Honestly speaking, I’m really naive when it comes to card playing . My uncle used to teach me just for fun and sometimes we came to the point of betting our snack allowance. When our parents knew about that, our uncle got reprimanded…LOL! Watching 21 entertains me a lot and critics said this is an entertaining movie for someone not knowledgeable or much interested in real life casino gambling…Ouch! …but dumb and dumber for those who are.

My father told us that playing blackjack without making a bet is OK. One of the other really good reasons to play blackjack is because it’s an endeavor where hard work, study, and skill can pay off. Memorizing basic strategy will increase your chances of winning. Learning how to count cards will increase your chances of winning even more just like the movie 21. Furthermore, playing blackjack well requires a certain amount of character. Call me hopelessly old-school, but character is still a valuable commodity.

In this generation, blackjack players could have the option to play online blackjack or at live casino. They can play whenever they want without having to deal with crowds and cigarette smoke. This is further advantageous in that one can do it at any time of the day or night without getting to inconvenience any one. Looking from this angle, it is possible for the player of this game to save money in regards to going to the casino and the expenses that is associated when one is in the casino for example that of buying a drink. While playing blackjack, a calm mind is required. This may not be the case when one is playing in a room full of people. This might serve to intimidate the player especially if the sight of people gets him or her to feel the pressure. With online black jack, it is more than possible to play the game at a secluded place where all their concentration gets to be put in the game.

As for me, you couldn’t let me play blackjack and much more the online blackjack for real money because my mind can’t fully grasp the blackjack rules. Remember, I almost fail in one of my Math’s subject in college…he..he…My memory skill isn’t working well this time. I don’t know if I will ever learn the basic and advance blackjack strategies that will help me gain an advantage over the dealer.
