Benefits of napping at work

I usually nap at work after lunch time around 12:00 to 1:00 pm. My Filipino co-teacher was hesitant to take a nap first because we have video surveillance and she’s afraid that the management will not like the idea of napping but I told her it’s our vacant time and napping at work actually increase productivity. We just need to take a quick nap during the long, arduous work week just to recharge the old batteries. That’s what we did and it really helps. We woke up recharged for another set of classes.

A NASA study backs up my claim. The study shows that a nap of just 26 minutes can boost performance by as much as 34 percent. You see? Napping helps with memory processing, alertness, and learning new skills. We live with less than our recommended eight hours, and that means so many things — decreased sex drive, decreased productivity, and fatigue-related accidents. Napping helps with all of these things.

Studies show that naps up to 90 minutes won’t interfere with your sleep at night, so don’t sleep too long. And don’t nap within three hours of bedtime.
